New at InfoComm 2009: FIR-Drive Array Controller for N8000-1500
Orlando, Florida, June 17, 2009: Electro-Voice is pleased to announce the latest addition to the IRIS-Net and NetMax tool kit – the FIR-Drive Array controller. IRIS-Net has proven itself time and again as an industry-leading tool for configuration, control, and supervision of live concert sound systems. NetMax, with the release of the N8000-1500, has become the most powerful live audio processor on the market and has been used in some of the world’s largest shows, including the Houston Rodeo and Kenny Chesney’s most recent tour.

Live sound and production have a very specific set of requirements – exceptional audio quality, reliability, ease of use, flexible configuration, and quick set up among them. Modular DSP platforms like NetMax provide a unique set of tools to address flexibility, and the N8000-1500 provides the requisite processing power to address the superior audio performance that FIR can deliver, but the process of configuring and programming highly sophisticated, intricate drive systems and interfaces can be a daunting and time-consuming task.

To address the problems posed by complex drive systems and interfaces, Electro-Voice engineers created the FIR-Drive Array Controller, an IRIS-Net project file that uses IRIS-Net and a single EV NetMax N8000-1500 Matrix Controller to provide a complete drive subsystem for small to medium-sized sound systems using EV line array products. that the array controller provides complete, pre-created DSP path and configuration as well as a complete GUI for end users. Following in the footsteps of the IRIS-Net Project Generator’s amplifier projects, the FIR-Drive Array Controller makes the process of launching a blank project in IRIS-Net to passing audio a matter of minutes, not hours.

As the name suggests, the FIR-Drive Array Controller is an EV FIR-Drive product that uses the latest in Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter technology, advanced limiter algorithms, EV transducer design, and FIR-Drive speaker settings to provide the ultimate in sound quality and even coverage. The FIR-Drive Array Controller represents a brand-new way to deploy IRIS-Net and NetMax in live sound environments.

Using the N8000-1500's unparalleled DSP horse power, each FIR-Drive Array Controller provides a detailed, optimized, and preconfigured DSP structure for operation of EV line array systems. A single-layer, high-density GUI is provided for full access to all necessary parameters for adjustment and control presented in a ready-to-go, tablet-friendly interface.
