The GVN-HC-TX220AP is the next-generation transmitter in the Gemini GVN 1G AV-over-IP family. It introduces native USB-C connectivity with 100 W charging, Ethernet and audio over USB, and auto-selecting between USB-C and HDMI inputs - enabling true single-cable collaboration over existing 1 Gb networks.

Full-Featured USB-C meets 1Gb AV-over-IP

The GVN-HC-TX220AP is the next-generation transmitter in Lightware’s Gemini GVN family that brings Full-Featured USB-C connectivity to 1G AV-over-IP deployments. The USB-C input accepts 4K60 4:4:4 video with audio while providing a fully transparent and independent USB data layer and optional 100W fast charging for BYOD hosts. In addition to USB-C, a second host computer can take advantage of a combination of HDMI 2.0 input plus data-only USB-C ports. Selection between the two local hosts can be eirher manual or automated based on signal presence or priority. USB device traffic is handled as true USB 2.0 over IP to allow HID devices and peripherals such as webcams and speakerphones to be extended and switched through the GVN system with behavior consistent with local USB connections. The GVN-HC-TX220AP features a local HDMI 2.0 loop-out for a mirrored local preview and offers a stereo analog audio port (selectable In or Out) for local audio connections.

Flexible and Scalable AV-over-IP Ecosystem

Gemini GVN is designed as a flexible AV-over-IP ecosystem that scales efficiently across large or asymmetrical AV deployments. As a member of this ecosystem, the HC-TX220AP offers best-in-class end-to-end latency and seamless switching between sources. In addition to video and USB peripheral data, the Full-Featured USB-C input can optionally provide Ethernet connectivity to the connected BYOD host, allowing hassle-free network access over the same single cable. The HC-TX220AP can be powered either via PoE from the network switch in simplified installations, or by the optional 160W external power supply when the 100W USB Power Delivery functionality is required. Network connectivity is provided over an SFP cage for fiber based systems or dual RJ45 ports for copper installations. One RJ45 port is dedicated to the Gemini GVN network, while the second RJ45 port is a custom LAN interface that can be used for user Ethernet-over-USB bridging or for a physically separated Dante network on the DNT variant.

Native USB audio device

The native USB audio interface eliminates the complexity typically associated with HDMI-based audio workflows by presenting the device directly to the host computer as a standard USB audio interface. This enables seamless bi-directional audio integration with streaming, broadcasting, conferencing, and professional production applications, where the device can be selected just like any other system audio source or destination. Because it is managed natively by the operating system, users benefit from straightforward configuration and control without additional software overhead. With driverless support across major platforms, deployment is fast, reliable, and ready for enterprise-scale environments.
